Five Ways to Celebrate Spring 2023
Updated: Apr 3
I’m excited about this coming week! The sun moves into Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, signalling the start of the new astrological year, and we have the Spring (Vernal) Equinox occurring on 20th March at 21:24 GMT; we can finally get 2023 started, and leave the long cold Winter behind us….

This Monday, 20th March 2023, marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.
During the Spring Equinox, the length of the day and night are approximately equal, and the sun crosses the celestial equator, moving from south to north. Celebrated by various cultures for thousands of years, this is a time of rebirth and new beginnings.
This balance of light and dark, when the hours of daylight and darkness are equal, symbolises the balance of energy that comes with the arrival of Spring.
Traditionally, it has always been a time of fertility, growth, and renewal, and many festivals and rituals are held to honour the changing of the seasons.
A Magical Awakening
As the world around us begins to awaken from its winter slumber, the earth becomes warmer, we see more colour in our surroundings, flowers begin to bloom, and new life is all around us.
We can tap into this energy of new beginnings and use this time to shed what we no longer need, leave Winter behind us, and embrace new possibilities. It’s time to let go of whatever is no longer serving us and to focus on the future.
We can embrace the spirit of Spring in simple ways by taking time to connect with nature, practising self-care, and setting intentions for the coming months.
You could also choose to celebrate this magical time through meditation, prayer, journaling, or simply taking a walk in the park.
This is a time to honour the beauty and power of the natural world.
Working with the energy of the Spring Equinox can help us align with the earth's natural rhythms and harness the energy of new beginnings and expansion.
One way to work with the energy of the Spring Equinox is to perform a ritual or ceremony to honour the changing of the seasons. This can involve creating an altar or sacred space with items that represent spring, such as flowers, seeds, and greenery.
You can also work with crystals and gemstones that are associated with the energy of growth and renewal, such as citrine, peridot, and green aventurine.
Even if rituals aren’t your thing, you can still set intentions for what you want to manifest in the coming months by focusing on what you’d like to create or attract into your life.
You can also perform activities that symbolise growth and new beginnings, such as planting seeds or taking a nature walk.
Raise your Vibration!
Of course, I’m going to mention ‘gratitude’ - as always! It’s such a simple but potent practice.
So, practise gratitude and appreciation for the abundance and beauty of the natural world. This can involve spending time outdoors, connecting with nature, and expressing thanks for the blessings in your life.
Got a roof over your head, a bed to sleep in? Say thank you.
Got clothes to wear, shoes on your feet? Say thank you.
Got a mobile phone in your hand or reading this on a laptop/PC? Say thank you.
Got a kettle so you can boil water for your favourite brew? Say thank you….
You get the picture!
Doing this raises our vibration and aligns us with the energy of growth and abundance.
The Spring Equinox is a powerful time to connect with the energy of new beginnings.
By working with the energy of this season and setting intentions for what we would like to manifest, we align with the natural rhythms of the earth. Through ritual, gratitude, and connection with nature, we can harness the energy of the Spring Equinox to create positive and magical changes in our lives.
Five Ways to work with the energy of the Spring Equinox:
#1 - Set Intentions:
Consider what you want to manifest and grow in your life over the coming months and write a list of everything you’d like to achieve. Then create a plan with steps you can take to bring these things into your life.
You could create a vision board, which is fantastic, but it’s no good just wishing for things - you’ve actually got to put in some effort and work for what you want!

#2 - Planting Seeds:
As nature awakens from its winter slumber, it's a great time to sweep away all of the decay in our gardens and start planting seeds and nurturing new growth. If you’re lucky enough to have some outside space, clear away anything that is broken, can’t be repaired, is no longer fit for purpose or is dead.
Planting seeds - physically or metaphorically - is a powerful way to work with the energy of the Spring Equinox.
#3 - Spring Cleaning:
The Spring Equinox is an ideal time for cleaning and decluttering your physical space. This can be a symbolic way of letting go of old, stagnant energy and making space for new growth and opportunities.
If I’m honest, I hate cleaning, but the Spring sunshine seems to show all of the dust and dirt so you can bet that I’ll be doing this after Monday! And I always feel better after a good clearout.

#4 - Celebrate:
The Spring Equinox is a time of celebration and happiness! The days start getting longer and warmer after Monday. Create an altar or decorate a corner of your home with spring flowers, (like daffodils and tulips). Add green leaves, twigs, pastel-coloured ribbons, eggs, candles and crystals.
You could also create a ritual to honour the changing season; light candles, burn incense, sing and dance!

#5 - Connect with Nature:
Spend time in nature to connect with and honour the earth's energy of spring. Take a walk in the park, go for a hike, or sit in your garden or under a tree and meditate or journal.
Allow yourself to be present, breathe in the Spring air, connect to your breath, and be open to the energy of renewal and growth. Observe the ebb and flow of the seasons and be conscious of the cycles of life.
the Spring Equinox is a powerful time of awakening and rebirth.
By working with the energy of this season, we can harness its magic, set intentions for growth, regeneration and expansion, and look forward to personal transformation.
Just like the flowers, it’s time to bloom! Spring forth, and enjoy this brand-new season!
